Beginning Where We Are: Building Dementia Support in New Braunfels
Every meaningful journey begins with a small, intentional step. This week, Still Waters Consulting has begun taking those first steps into the New Braunfels community with open hands and hopeful hearts. As we start sharing our mission locally, we are reminded that building something rooted in compassion, trust, and person-centered care does not happen overnight. It happens through relationships, conversations, and a shared desire to care well for one another.
New Braunfels is a community known for its warmth, connection, and deep sense of belonging. As we reach out, our hope is to build a network of support for families caring for a loved one living with dementia at home. These caregivers often carry their responsibilities quietly, balancing love, grief, exhaustion, and devotion all at once. They deserve a space where they are seen, heard, and supported without judgment or pressure.
One of our earliest goals is to create an in-person support group specifically for primary caregivers caring for a loved one with dementia at home. This group would offer education, encouragement, and meaningful connection grounded in person-centered care. It would be a place to share stories, ask questions, learn together, and breathe a little easier knowing you are not alone in this journey.
As we begin this work, we are seeking a donated or shared space within the New Braunfels community where this support group can meet. Our vision is simple and sincere. A quiet, welcoming environment where caregivers can gather safely, comfortably, and consistently. A space that reflects the heart of this community and the dignity of the families we serve.
These early steps may feel small, but they carry great purpose. Each conversation, each introduction, and each act of generosity helps lay the foundation for something lasting. We are deeply grateful for the openness we have already encountered and excited about what is being built, one relationship at a time.
If you are a caregiver, a community partner, a local organization, or someone who believes in supporting families impacted by dementia, we would love to connect. Together, we can create a network of person-centered education, advocacy, and support that strengthens not just individual families, but our entire community.
This journey is just beginning, and we are honored to begin it here in New Braunfels.
